I have the right to be healthy and to feel good!

You have the right to be well cared for

You have the right to drink clean water and receive healthy food.

  • Stay healthy
  • Stay safe
  • Pay attention to your physical and mental health

! Feeling good means finding a good balance between my physical and mental health

That’s why we often say: “a healthy mind in a healthy body”.

What does that mean?

If you get ill, your parents are responsible for looking after you and taking you to a doctor or to hospital. Your parents must take care of both your physical and your mental health. You therefore have the right to be well cared for so that you’re as healthy as possible.

Being healthy is much more than just going to the doctor

Eating a healthy diet, drinking clean water and exercising are all important to stay in good shape. It’s therefore important to know which foods are healthy and unhealthy and to understand the advantages of taking regular exercise. When we know these facts, we can take care of our own health!

What does being well cared for mean in Luxembourg?

In Luxembourg, we’re lucky to have a health system that works well. Every child has access to free healthcare from the moment when they are born (and during the pregnancy) because medical expenses are covered by the health insurance fund. You are guaranteed access to clean drinking water and every effort is made to offer you a healthy diet.Nutritious meals are provided free of charge in educational and childcare structures (maisons relais). You can find lots of information about the advantages of eating healthily and taking exercise on the 'Gesond liewen – méi bewegen' website, you can also find out about your school’s sports day.

The following services have been set up to protect your mental health and include all students with special needs:

  • An educational and psychosocial department in every secondary school, including the CePAS, to support students at educational and psychosocial level.
  • Child protection officers (DPE) in secondary schools.
  • The educational and psychosocial service CESAS topromote emotional and sexual health.

You can find more information about protection against violence here.
