You have the right to live and thrive
You have the right to grow up in pleasant conditions (physically, mentally, emotionally and socially), and your parents or the people who look after you are responsible for ensuring that this is the case. They must give you a good environment to grow up in. The government can support them if they need help. But, of course, you too should take care of your environment and your health.
You have the right to a clean and safe environment
You have the right to grow up in a healthy and safe environment. Your life should never be endangered as a result of pollution or climate change.
What does that mean?
To live a healthy life, you need a home, a healthy diet, clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and fruit and vegetables to eat that are grown in healthy soil. It is therefore crucial to protect the environment to ensure your health.
How can you help to protect the environment?
You can:
- Sort and recycle your rubbish and put organic waste in a compost bin
- avoid using disposable products, such as plastic bottles
- drink tap water
- avoid wasting things
- travel by public transport or by bike
- eat local and seasonal produce
- pick up litter in forests
- get involved in an environmental protection group
What does Luxembourg do to help you?
To protect the environment...
You too can protect the environment:
