I have the right to be included and helped when I have special needs!

If you are disabled, the government is responsible for eliminating all obstacles that prevent you from actively participating in community life.

You have the right to receive assistance if you have special needs, for example if you are visually impaired or you have learning difficulties. Teaching methods can be adapted to help you learn more easily at school. Your parents can also receive financial aid and material assistance.

Luxembourg makes every effort to ensure that all children can take part in the activities on offer for young people, where possible. Access ramps, specialised transport and specially trained staff can be organised to allow you to take part in everything: school, sports, music, etc.

The new Law of 13 June 2023 on student well-being and inclusive education provides for the following:

  • An assistant for students with special needs in every primary school (A-EBS)
  • A national inclusive education service (SNEI)

What’s more, the Law strengthens children’s participation by providing situations in which the child must be involved in decisions that concern them.

! The government wants all children to be included in classes! The government wants all children to be included in classes

With or without special needs, access to school lessons, music classes and sport lessons has been simplified, for example with the visualisation of exercises or by adapting the lesson duration. School transport assistance has been improved, and assistants/instructors are better trained.

I’m aged between 6 and 12:
